Seaarland Shipping Management B.V. is a Netherlands-based ship management company which operates modern tankers, product carriers and bulk carriers.
Our vision is to provide our costumers with a safe, reliable transportation service while ensuring the safety and security of the crew, vessel and cargo and always complying with the highest environmental standards.
The technical management of Seaarland fleet is carried out by Motia Compagnia di Navigazione (www.motia.it) in Venice, while Seaarland Management Services Pvt Ltd (www.seaarland.co.in) based in Mumbai, is responsible for the manning of the fleet and training of the crew. Seaarland Management Services Singapore spearheads expansion for the group into Asia (www.seaarland.sg).
Seaarland is committed to a substantial expansion of the fleet over the next few years, through an extensive new building program of owned vessels and also chartering in both tankers and bulk carriers.
The Ship Operator preferably has seamanship experience as a chemical/tanker deck officer or in an office operations function. He or she has an understanding of maritime procedures including knowledge of the IMO regulations related to the carriage of chemicals/petroleum products/bulk cargoes/veg oils.
1. Specific Areas of Responsibility
a) Properly and timely convey voyage instructions, including pertinent details from the governing charter party and other information applicable for the particular voyage and/or employment to the vessels, port agents and other relevant parties.
b) Responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of the relevant vessel(s), including but not limited to
- Consultation with the Safety Department (for marine and safety/security matters) to obtain written Safe Memo when required
- Timely and correct tendering of Notices
- Control of vessels' speed and bunker consumption
- Control of vessels' intake of cargo and requirements for bunkers, fresh water etc.
- Control of vessels' bunker stocks in accordance with issued guidelines.
- Ordering of bunkers through the selected suppliers.
- Control of vessels' port stay, including pumping performance to ensure an optimal despatch.
c) Ensure that
- Bill(s) of Lading is/are always issued in accordance with the relating Charter Party and that they contain all clauses as prescribed in current instructions to the Master.
- Original Bill(s) of Lading is/are presented before commencement of discharge or alternatively obtains an acceptable indemnification.
- Accomplished Bill(s) of Lading is/are received without undue delay after completion of discharge.
d) Responsible for
- Appointment of agents as necessary.
- Issuing and collection of freight, T/C hire and dead freight.
- Issuing of claims for heating, shifting, deviation and miscellaneous
- Various economic and administrative functions including:
- Monthly discrepancy actual from budget.
- Updating of Seaarland Shipping operational system
- Operational procedures for vessels employed in Pools and/or Time Chartered-In
e) Recommend to the Operations Manager operational procedures, which will improve the operation of the ships operated by Seaarland
f) Maintain up-to-date and fact-based knowledge on the optimal operational modes for the ships operated by Seaarland and where necessary recommend the required changes covering modifications, replacements, acquisitions or disposal of equipment on board vessels and ashore
g) Develop and maintain close business relations with customers, terminals, port agents and other relevant parties
h) Assist in co-ordinating the optimal dry docking of the vessels in consultation with Operations Manager and Technical Office.
2. General
a) Take initiative for proper and timely action in all respects. Protect Seaarland historical trustworthiness.
b) Keep Operation Manager and Managing Director currently advised of developments within area of responsibility and matters of general interest.
c) Make suggestions for improvements and savings within all areas of the tanker/bulkers activities to ensure our constant competitiveness.
d) Develop interdepartmental co-operation within the Shipping Group to achieve efficiency and joint strength in tankers/bulkers development and marketing.
e) Always work in accordance with internal directives.
Your profile:
We are looking for two persons who are:
• Educated to MBO/HBO level
• A minimum of 2-3 years experience as a ship operator
• Fluent in verbal and in written English
• Computer skills (MS Office)
• Good communication skills, flexible and a good team player
