Electronics Technician

REPORTS TO

Chief Electronics Technician

 

1.                                         SUMMARY

Maintain and repair all electronic equipment on board primarily for the safe operation of the ship, as directed.

 

2.                                         ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintaining the electronic equipment and control systems located in machinery spaces, and to be available in the case of an emergency in regard to this equipment;

Maintaining the navigational and radio equipment on the bridge, and to be available in the case of an emergency in regard to this equipment;

Carrying other assignments as directed by the Chief Electronics Technician, or in his absence, the Chief Electrician.

 

3.                                         QUALIFICATIONS

An electronic background is essential for all the duties. Electrical experience would be beneficial.

 

3.1.                                 LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively communicate with others in clear English.

 

3.2.                                 CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / EXPERIENCE

Education and training showing evidence of a thorough knowledge of electronic equipment, with related work experience.

 

4.                                         WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
